Purpose

The goal of my career is to educate women and children around the world with the purpose of empowerment.

As the crime of human trafficking flourishes around the world, there is one thing for certain, education will deter mothers from selling their children, and help give women and children viable option for careers. Education takes many forms. My purpose to train survivors and at-risk women and children life skills. I am not an expert, but have spent years researching and have come to understand that cosmetology is a valuable field worldwide. This industry can, not only, create a sustainable career for people but it can also provide income for higher education down the road.

I have been fighting human trafficking through volunteer work and exposure since 2008. I have several artistic areas of study that I believe will be of interest and therapy to women and children across the globe. Art therapy can be a valuable tool to help victims and survivors express themselves. Jewelry design is a skill which gives people creative power and a source of revenue. Finally, cosmetology. Most of us take advantage of beauty services offered to us. Many people love their stylist and remain faithful to them through the career-span of the stylist. This same fact, gives women around the world an advantage for a life and career of dignity and self-worth.

In 2014, I graduated from Paul Mitchell The School - Overland Park. For years I have known the value of cosmetology and the beauty arts in the battle against trafficking. However, from my research and experience, there are only a handful of organizations who focus on it. My goal, through this blog, through my career and through life is to open doors and empower women and children, worldwide, to a career and a life filled with dignity.

Thank you for taking time to read more about my purpose. I would love to hear back from you. Please leave any comments or questions you have for me below.
